FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT BEAUMARIS

A beautiful name
Beaumaris takes its name from the French “beau mareys”, meaning “beautiful marsh”.

An unfinished masterpiece
Beaumaris Castle was Edward I’s last royal stronghold in Wales — and was never completed.

World Heritage status
The castle forms part of the UNESCO-listed Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd.

A Victorian waterfront
Beaumaris Pier opened in 1846. Following a storm, it was rebuilt and extended in 1872.

Centuries of courtroom stories
The town’s historic courthouse was built in 1614 and is now a museum.

Llefrith Cybi
Fresh milk, island roots and four generations of family farming.
Their story
At Plas farm in Pont Rhydybont, Rhoscolyn, brothers Mei and Rhodri work alongside their father Gwyn. Their family’s farming story stretches back to the 1960s, with their late grandfather an important part of that heritage.
Their British Friesian herd grazes outdoors for much of the year and is milked twice daily. In 2023, the family launched Cybi Milk, bringing fresh milk directly to the community through a farm-gate vending machine.
By 2025, the range had grown to include their own ice cream and a variety of milkshakes. With plans for a milking-parlour viewing area, they continue finding new ways to share farm life while supporting local businesses.

Family run microbrewery with taproom open Thurs - Sunday. Ales range from award winning Lager (Lager Lawd) to a three star Great Taste, Amber ale made with Seaweed (Môrish). We have Belgian Blonde ale (also award winning - Cwrw'r Bae) and a range of IPAs, NEIPA and stouts. We have four fermenters which means we brew beers on roation - get it while it lasts! Taproom events include themed nights, live music, game nights, quiz and plain old sip and chat with friends night. We're big fans of rugby so will be showing 6 Nations and internationals - food truck on the day. We do brewery talks which we're hoping to expand on in 2027. Our mobile bar is a converted ambulance and is a great addition to any festival or wedding. Give us a shout!
